• Huegenot Crescent

Project Name: Huegenot Crescent, Oakwood
Area: Oakwood, Pinehurst
Type of garden: Modern
Maintenance requirements: Very low
Water requirements: Very low

The Brief: The owner of this rental home wanted minimal maintenance but still wanted it to look good for when they move in over few years. We used a combination of hard elements i.e. stone, gabion walls & pavers were used to cover most of surface. Dark blue/grey stone was selected for the gabion walls in order to create some contrast with the brown stone chip, used as the main ground cover. Focal plants such as fever trees, tree aloes & cone bushes were used to bring in colour and to soften the hard landscape.

Artificial lawn was installed to further lower the future maintenance of the garden. An automated drip irrigation system was installed and together with the carefully selected waterwise plants, this garden will have a very low water requirement with minimal maintenance. 350m² in extent, this was a complete landscaping of the garden. The house is located in Oakwood, Durbanville.
