• House Nel

Project Name: House Nel
Area: Protea Heights, Brackenfell
Type of garden: Low maintenance
Maintenance requirements: Very Low
Water requirements: Very low

The Brief: The owner wanted to remove all lawn and created a lasting garden that do not require much water or maintenance.
The front garden slopes toward the front door. A drainage grid was installed to divert water away from the house and covered with large river boulders. The remainder of the front garden was covered with brown stone chip. Large blue/grey aggregate, together with gabions with similar stone was used to create contrast, and to help smoothen out the slope. The rear garden is quite shady and lawn always struggled to grow here. Lawn was replaced with artificial lawn. (Synsport eco 20mm)
